The Library, an Opposites novella

Please sign up for the event on facebook and follow all the stops on the tour! There will be something new everyday from all the fantastic bloggers that are participating.

** Warning, Opposites is an adult dystopian majorly m/m series **
Book one, Opposites

In the year 2081 our planet survived global warming of an apocalyptic scale. When the dust settled and the water receded Dr. Anthony Smith, one of only a few hundred survivors of GWI, started society anew. Having come to the conclusion that injudicious breeding played a huge role in the destruction of Earth as we knew it in the twenty first century, he worked closely with other survivors to isolate the Dionysus gene. This gene has the ability to manipulate human DNA to ensure that all male children be born gay, and all female children be born lesbians. A new society is born.

In the year 2300 Dr. Smith’s descendants are ushering in the twenty fourth century having maintained control of the government that still rules society. Twins Aiya and Aiyan are preparing to meet their matches and take control of House Gaeland, the current ruling House. But not everything is as it seems.

Love is Love.. it knows no gender and doesn’t conform to restrictions and boundaries. Aiyan has found his soul mate in Kaden, the prince of House Devi that he is matched with and eventually marries. But when the person Aiya falls in love with tests the boundaries put in place after GWI, all hell breaks loose. And in the midst of one secret unraveling, another will emerge. There is a growing anomaly that threatens to destroy over two hundred years of progression. This anomaly is known as Opposites.

*WARNING* Opposites is a majorly M/M New Adult novel that contains explicit sexual content and relationships between gay, lesbian and straight couples

The Library, an Opposites novella

Three gay couples run amuck in this short story where clothing, beds, even four walls are all optional!

Want to know what happened that night in the library?
Cirian and Rian had a fight in the library and Rian ends up naked on the desk, on his back, at Cirian's mercy.

Want to know how far things went with ice cream?
A romantic evening by the fire feeding his husband ice cream leads to a lot more than heavy petting for Aiyan and Kaden.

Want to know what was going on when those birds fled?
Travelling hundreds of miles, battling the rebels and then travelling back to House Gaeland will take it out of you. But when Tanis wants something, he takes it. Raven is about to be bent over a tree!

A Note from the Author: I've taken three scenes from Opposites that were cut short and elaborated on the shenanigans that ensued. I also focused more in the beginning on the relationship between Cirian and Rian, to give readers a chance to know them and their inner workings better.

**Warning, The Library is a novella set in the same world as Opposites. It's an adult dystopian M/M novella that includes consenting and explicit sexual relationships between gay couples**

A military brat born and raised at Ft. Benning Georgia; Smith is an avid reader, reviewer and writer. She now calls Texas home from her small town on the outskirts of the DFW Metroplex. Most days you can find her curled up with her kindle and a good book alongside a glass of something aged and red or a steaming cup of coffee!

At 42 years young, she's decided to enter the next phase of her life by adding the title of "author" to her list of accomplishments that includes single mom of three disturbingly outspoken and decidedly different kids, one of which is Autistic. Smith is and outspoken advocate for Autism and equal rights for the LGBTQ community.

Her Opposites series is based outside the normal parameters of social acceptability, examining a 'what if'... What If to be gay or lesbian were the norm? What if to be straight labeled you as an Opposite and made YOU the Outkast?

Klaus with the stare of golden stones

Time Weaver: The Time Collector Series Book one: Heart of Cogs.

Klaus with the stare of golden stones -

“It’s rude to touch other people’s zings.” The first thing she noticed was the thick German accent and how it growled with a husky purr as he spoke. Elizabeth spun around to find a man standing by her window, hands clasped behind his back and staring out towards the garden. He then cocked his head over his shoulder, bearing into her a set of deep, brown eyes. Even by the way his body curved upwards into his perfect posture had Elizabeth’s heart in a knot. Now she had wished she was back in the gorgeous clothes and not this simple dress. The lights had been dimmed so they could barely breathe inside the room.

Numb to her words she whispered. “It’s you.”

As still as stone the man merely stood there, eyes bearing into her face as Elizabeth slowly stepped up to him. He was taller than her by at least two feet, enough that his head had to tilt towards his chest to keep eye contact. One thing she noticed about his eyes is just how fierce they sparked in his concentration, much like he was looking at her and beyond into her most private thoughts. “My name is Elizabeth Blackmore. Who are you?”

She extended her hand which he didn’t take.

"I am Klaus."

- City Of Decay

It started with a cough.

She had tried to conceal it in her hand, squeezing her lips against her palm but they had heard her. I remember snapping my eyes open at the rough wheeze and looking up. She froze where she crouched before she shuffled backwards as the footsteps started running. They were running so fast and straight towards us. She had me clutched to her chest, and I could feel her heart fluttering next to my ear.

I turned to wrap my arms around her but she pushed me off. I didn’t know what else to do. My breath quickened. She tried to shush me desperately by cupping her hand over my mouth. It was still warm from where she caught her cough.  She then proceeded to force my hands over my ears and pushed my head down so my chin was in-between my knees. I’ll never forget how her voice trembled in her fear. How every breath cracked like she was suffocating. “Don’t look at them. Please, please whatever you do don’t look at them.”

So I closed my eyes as tightly as I could.

She was so close to my head that her breath warmed my earlobe. When they reached our door the running stopped. She quickly scooted as far away from me as possible till her back hit the other side of the room. I couldn’t see anything beyond the darkness behind my eyelids. I hummed to block the sound of the door being opened. My palms firm against the side of my head, my mind frozen as I awaited the moment they took her.

She started to scream. She screamed and screamed as I tightened up.  My humming got louder, her screaming got distant. Then there was silence. I opened my eyes; our room was empty aside from a cot in the corner. It was so dark. I could barely see beyond the door. I cupped my hand to my mouth to stop myself from crying out. They took her. I slammed my eyes shut, squeezing out tears. I feel so sick. Where did they take her? There was something wet on the ground but I couldn’t see what. Was it blood? I dared not look, instead

wiping my hand across my shirt.

About the Author

Candace Osmond

Authors Bio: Born in 1985 as Candace Osmond in North York Ontario, I began to travel with my parents at the very young age of four years old. I had lived all over Canada and seen everything my country has to offer, from the enchanting shores of Fogo Island, Newfoundland to the gigantic snow-capped mountains of Port Alberni, British Columbia all by the time I was ten. I did, however, spend most of my life in Eastern Canada where I was surrounded by folklore and legends, not knowing how they would shape my personality and imagination for the rest of my life.  Being the only girl of my age in a small group of kids, in an even smaller town, left me spending most of my time by myself and, in result, letting my imagination take over. I would sit by the shore and dream up stories of mermaids and other fantastic creatures to pass the time. Coming from a family with writers and artists dispersed throughout, it was only natural that I spend my time writing, drawing and reading. I dreamed of becoming nothing more than an artist, a creator of any kind. By the age of eleven, I spent most of my waking hours scribbling down short stories, poems and anything else I could think of, while adding my own personal illustrations. By the age of fourteen, I had won numerous minor arts and writing competitions. I excelled at anything art and literature related so, naturally, I planned to attend university for nothing more or less than that. In 2003 I planned to attend university for Creative Writing and Literary Studies. But, with the fear that I would spend all my time and money on an
education and end up in a field that I may very well struggle to succeed in, I backed out and attended school for Design instead. Now, a successful Designer living happily in sunny Medicine Hat, Alberta, I met a man and fell in love. His passion and talent for art far exceeds my own, but he motivated me to awaken my old habits of staying up late or waking up early to scribble down dreams and ideas before I had forgotten them and they disappeared forever.

Excerpt

Change has an irrevocable impact on the mind, body and soul. To the fearful it’s threatening—it means there’s a possibility that things could get worse. To the hopeful, however, it’s encouraging because it means things could get better.

Was I fearful or was I hopeful?

I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling in my sunlit bedroom and pondered about that. To most people this wouldn’t be so stressful. To most people change meant a new hair color or a new job.
But I realized a while ago—I am not most people.

I had been left to make a choice that was so life changing that it would alter me completely, forever. I could choose to become a vampire and gain the strength I desperately needed to protect myself. With this choice I could spend an eternity of nights in the arms of the most perfect creature because I too, would be a perfect creature.

Or, I could choose to pledge myself to a monarch, a leader of the fey. Become a child of magic, wonder and beauty and still possess the strength I need for my defense.
Or door number three, choose not to choose. I could remain human, as I’d lived comfortably for the past eighteen years now. But, to choose nothing would still be a choice, and would determine the path my life would take. None of my options guaranteed a smooth path. But I had a lingering a feeling that, no matter what I chose, the path that was unwinding in front of
me was going to be very, very rocky.

The Reapers - Review Board

Thank you so much to everyone participating in the Staccato family line up tour: I would like to extend a personal thanks to everyone leaving reviews for the recent release of My Demonic Ghost: The Reapers.

Sinful Reviews:

http://sinfulreview.wordpress.com/2013/09/19/sept-19the-reapers-by-jacinta-maree/

My Review: 5 Stars
I received this book as an arc for a review and I loved it. I couldn’t put it down.
The main character is 16 year old Rachael. She visits her dad, whom everyone thinks is crazy, after he claims there is a evil demon spirit that has attached it’s self to him. Even Rachel thinks her father is crazy but decides to go and visit him anyways. After her father dies,Rachael finds out that everything her father told her turns out to be true.
This book was so good! It’s a horror and love story all mixed up into one and I couldn’t get enough of it. Rachael starts to fall in love with the Demonic spirit (Lock) and vice versa. There was time when I was completely horrified reading about the other demons in the story and I was rooting Rachael and Lock on the whole time. This whole book played out like a movie in my head and I couldn’t stop reading. I was a little unsure at first to tell you the truth but i was just so immersed into the story. The last of the book flips to Even aka Lock’s point of view and I wanted to cry my eyes out. I can’t wait to read more story’s by this author.
Bookend 2 Bookend:

Last year I did an adopt an author event and came across Jacinta Maree and her book 'My Demonic Ghost' I seriously fell in love with the book! I then got to know her during the month I had her as my adoptive author! (Was so much fun by the way!) And I fell in love with her too! She's one of the sweetest, kindest people out there.  I don't often get a chance to rave about the authors I get to know, it's usually just their books. But I wanted to take a moment and let everyone know this lady is awesome! So if I ever get a chance to work with her, I take it! :) If you want to read my review on 'My Demonic Ghost' go HERE

The Reapers was no surprise a fantastic read. There's a gentle way this author puts creepy into her books. Does that make any sense? Like you know it's coming but it's like a great horror film with the build up and then BAM scares you. I'm easily scared too by the way, but I'm so weird and love to just keep going.  Jordon is our main male lead and he's written wonderfully. You are pulled in the different ways he is and you feel his pain and torture for the choices that he has to make. He is tested in ways he didn't think were possible and what he decides, decides his fate.  You don't want to pass this up and I want to continue raving but then I can't keep my mouth shut and will start spouting spoilers! All I can say is read this! Read the first book too! You won't be disappointed. She remains to be one of my favorite Young Adult writers! Thank you for taking my imagination to a different place where demons, angels, reapers, hunters and all the like are real! Fantastic! I absolutely love a book that plays like a movie in my head! I've said it millions of times, but seriously, I do!! I give this book my thumbs up!
Becca Anne's Book Reviews
This is a follow up to My Demonic Ghost but it is also a prequel too.  I loved this book.  This story filled in some of the questions I had left over from the first book.

This is Jordan Hastings story.  He was killed by a fellow classmate in a fit of jealous rage causing him to become a Reaper.  What is a reaper you ask?  Well Jordan's job with the help of his Goon is to show up when someone dies and collects their Spirit to then take to the drop off.  This is a difficult thing for Jordan to come to terms with but eventually he begins to accept this.

Jordan is a rule breaker and I love him for it.  He enters the Sin World to free a Banished Spirit in hopes of getting their help with watching over another Banished Spirit.  This other Banished Spirit is important to him and will cause Jordan to look for a way to free all the Banished Spirits.

I enjoyed meeting new Reapers and getting to know them through Jordan.  His interactions with the Reapers and the Hunters kept me on my toes.  Some of the Reapers I developed a real liking for while others I really didn't care for.  We also got some of the back story on the Hunters.  The Hunters have control over the Reapers and Jordan hopes to end that while freeing the Banished.

This book had everything I was expecting it to have.  There's love (maybe not always romantic), adventure, action, and yes I even cried. Thank you Jacinta Maree for the return trip.  I got to explore more of the Sin World in this story.  If I may say it's just as nasty and scary as my first trip there, I love it.  Thank you for keeping to what I would expect from the Sin World.  It may just be one of my favorite things about these books.  This is a great read that I will recommend to my fellow readers.  I give this story 5 STARS!!!!

The Reapers is a story that surrounds My Demonic Ghost essentially. We learn more about the Reapers, Hunters and the Deadly Sins in this installment of the series.

Jordan Hastings human life has ended, but his trouble has just begun. He is now a reaper, a lost spirit condemned to collect the spirits of humans right at the time of their death. He struggles with this even tries to ignore it to an extent at the start. Continuing to live with his family until a shadow begins stalking them through Jordan. Raix, Jordan's new pet demon, doesn't make his afterlife any easier. The giant wolf doesn't follow orders well and has trouble adjusting to his new master. Jordan is about to get a crash course in trust and betrayal.

As with the first book there are a lot of twists and turns and the story flows well, keeping the reader intrigued throughout. Maree delves deeper into the different realms as well as the groupings of characters, which only adds to the suspense. The tug of war Jordan has with his emotions and the expectations placed on him, coupled with possible danger to his family gave this story depth.

This is a must read for anyone that loves a good scary story that definitely has some meat on it's bones. A different take on what the spirit has to endure once the living are dead. You have to start with book 1, My Demonic Ghost, to appreciate the full impact of Mother and the realms.

Please be careful and mindful at clubs!

Please be careful and mindful at clubs!

Last Friday night I had a glass cup hit my face while out at a club. As you can see, it cut me under my eye and has given me a black eye. (It's healed mostly now with no permanent scarring).  I don't know who threw it unfortunately due to it being so dark and packed.

Some idiot was obviously done with her/his drink and decided to throw it into the crowd instead of returning the glass to the bar counter.

I think I'm both lucky it didn't hit my eye or shatter and cut up my face more, and unlucky that I was the stranger who got hit.

If you're the type of person who does this at a club, THINK FIRST! Your mindless act could've seriously hurt someone.

ENFJ - Personality Test

What personality are you?

Representing approximately 2 percent of all people, people with the ENFJ personality type tend to be very influential, often without making any conscious efforts to increase their influence. ENFJs are genuinely interested in other people and radiate authenticity, concern and altruism – not surprisingly, those who surround the ENFJ usually find them very inspiring and likeable.

ENFJs are usually very charismatic and eloquent, finding it natural and easy to communicate their ideas and opinions, especially in person. It does not really matter whether they are presenting cold facts or expressing raging emotions, the ENFJ will not be afraid to stand up and speak, regardless of the audience.

This is one of the reasons why ENFJs can be so convincing and mesmerizing when they speak – they instinctively know how to combine passion and rational arguments, drawing the audience’s attention and reaching every mind. People with this personality type can be great leaders – and they do not necessarily have to get into politics to make a difference. An ENFJ teacher or a coach can have a strong positive effect on many people’s lives as well.

ENFJ personalities are very intuitive. They find it easy to sense other people’s motives and find connections between seemingly unrelated events. ENFJs also tend to be quite good at analyzing their own feelings and questioning them if necessary.

On the other hand, such intuitiveness and sensitivity can also cause significant difficulties for people with this personality type – they may be too altruistic and empathic, getting too involved in other people’s problems, and then finding it difficult to detach and stop worrying. In extreme cases, this can even affect the ENFJs’ perception of themselves.

ENFJs are optimistic idealists, often trusting other people more than they should – although this usually turns out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. As already mentioned above, ENFJs can be very convincing and inspiring. People are drawn towards strong personalities and the ENFJ’s charisma can often be a uniting and motivating factor.

The Edge of Darkness - Cover Reveal

The Edge of Darkness
by Melissa Andrea

Araya Noelle

I used to dance. I loved to dance, but I don’t anymore. I was in an accident I don’t remember… or maybe I don’t want to remember. Either way, every day since, has been… an adjustment and I’m left with a constant reminder that nothing is forever. Now, my life is a tangled web of darkness filled with deceit, hate, betrayal and lies. I don’t dwell on the past, I don’t regret and I don’t remember. I thought I was surviving – but then I met Ryland Dare and he changed everything. He reminded me that life’s worth living and that remembering isn’t always a bad thing.

You don’t know true darkness until you've felt light…

Ryland Dare.

On the outside looking in, some would say my siblings and I have had a pretty easy life. But beyond the fancy cars, the huge house and endless social events, is where the truth really lies. Power hungry father, defeated mother and fake friends? Yeah I have one of each. It’s not as depressing as it sounds. My brat of a sister, crazy ass brother and sweeter than sweet Annie, keep me entertained. Then Araya Noelle comes along and shows me what I’ve been missing. She thinks I changed her life, but really, she saved mine.
At the edge of darkness, a ray of light, will dare us to HOPE. DARE us to LOVE. DARE us to LIVE.

The Edge of Darkness is book 1 in a darkness trinity novel.
